Woman Attempts suicide in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Nigerian Police stopped a woman by the name Taiwo Momoh, a textile trader from ending her life by diving into the Lagos lagoon from the Third Mainland Bridge.
The woman, who is in her late fifties, was about jumping into the lagoon when the employees of the Lagos state police command prevented her from going further. Being deeply indebted had frustrated her to the position of her committing suicide. However, While having a discussion with Lagos state commissioner of police, Fatai Owoseni, subsequent to her rescue, She said that the money she owed her Swiss textile dealers Caused her to take the step.
She stated how her plight began in 2015. A bureau de change dealer had gone off with the N18.7m(Eighteen Million, Seven Hundred Thousand) she had planned to use for a foreign business transaction. Momoh Narrated that her troubles doubled after theieves invaded her store in Lagos Island, stealing the textiles she had left.
The textile dealer Further said that her son left her when she was encountering these difficulties, Leading her to change her religion from Islam to Christianity in anticipation that she would be assisted.
When no assistance was forthcoming from the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) parish that she joined, she felt it would be better to take her life and put an end to the troubles. But for the timely intervention of the law enforcement officers, she may have been deceased by now.
