SONG OF THE DAY: THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT US- MICHAEL JACKSON.
"They Don't Care About Us" is the number five single trailing Michael Joseph Jackson's record HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I, dropped in March 31, 1996. The song is still standing out to be principal of the most dark lighted pieces Michael Jackson ever sang.
In the United States, media interference clouding accusations of antisemitic lyrics were the boost for Jackson giving out lots and lots of apologies and re-singing the melody with changed lyrics.
The megastar came across accusations of antisemitism, he however said that critics had misconstrued the nature of the of the song, either unknowingly or knowingly.
The New York Times insinuated that the song had racist and anti-Semitic lyrics on June 15, 1995, just a day before the album's public entrance. The publication showed up the lyrics such as, "Jew me, sue me, everybody do me/ Kick me, kike me, don't you black or white me." Michael responded personally to the publication, saying:
"The idea that these lyrics could be deemed objectionable is extremely hurtful to me, and misleading. The song in fact is about the pain of prejudice and hate and is a way to draw attention to social and political problems. I am the voice of the accused and the attacked. I am the voice of everyone. I am the skinhead, I am the Jew, I am the black man, I am the white man. I am not the one who was attacking. It is about the injustices to young people and how the system can wrongfully accuse them. I am angry and outraged that I could be so misinterpreted." | ||
Still, the occupants of the area were over joyous to catch a glimpse of the musician, believing their problems could become portrayed visibly to a larger scope of the universe. The second video was done in a prison and had video clips of various discrimination and human rights abuse.
In the market, the hit had come to be a top ten hit in most European nations and number one in Germany for the whole of three weeks. In the United States, radio stations did not want to air the controversial song; it, nevertheless, got to rise to top 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The hit was later re mixed with aspects of songs such as "Privacy" which came from the album Invincible and "Tabloid Junkie", and dropped on the Immortal album, in November, 2011.
The song was done at Jackson's third and final concert series, the HIStory World Tour which spanned amazingly the year 1996 to 1997 as part of a mix with "Scream" and "In the Closet".
The song was slated to be sung on Jackson's This Is It comeback concert series at The O2 Arena in London scheduled to take place from July 2009 to March 2010 but the shows sadly did not hold as a result of the singer's tragic death on June 25, 2009.
