Celeb Of the Day: Timi Dakolo.



 Timi Dakolo is regarded as one of the best vocals in the Nigerian Music industry and he is also a very wonderful family man.

For those who do not know, Timi Dakolo is actually an half-cast, born into the city of Accra, Ghana to a Nigerian father, a Bayelsa indigene David and a mother from Ghana, His Mother actually gave up the ghost as Dakolo was thirteen years old.

 Despite the fact that he was born in Ghana, Timi has a Nigerian passport and does not profess double nationality. His grandmother Ateni Dakolo and his aunty Susan Larry, who resided in Port Harcourt brought him up, and he regards her as his primitive singing teacher.

So deep was their bond that Timi refused an offer to go to Lagos with his parents, choosing to remain in the city of Port-harcourt with his grandmother.

Timi Dakolo began singing in church towards the tender age of twelve. In the year 2003 he was with the singing group Purple Love as a founding associate.

They rended the Port Harcourt club circuit, but broke up in 2005 as all its associates had gotten admission into the University of Port Harcourt. towards that same epoch, Timi was victor of a native talent hunt contest G.E FACTO that was holding in Port Harcourt.

Towards the year 2006, Dakolo auditioned for reality show Idols West Africa in Calabar. His chosen vocals were Commissioned's More Than I and Lemar's Time to Grow. His sounds blew away the judges, and he was pictured as a runner for the prize.

A week earlier before the seeing of the Top 24 performances, Dakolo got the information that his grandmother had just died.

Dakolo had initialy auditioned in the city of Calabar, Cross River State of Nigeria with Commissioned More Than I and Lemar's Time to Grow. As he sang in the contest, Timi Dakolo was on no account in the base 3.

Towards the last three weeks of the reality show it was unveiled by the producers of the show that Timi had gotten the highest quantity of votes every one of the weeks.

As earlier said, during the competition, Timi's grandmother died, just a week prior to the choosing of the Top 24 performances. This was a very huge emotional and devastating blow to him. towards that period, he held on to his Christian belief for strength to carry on in the show. befor he had gone for Idols West Africa, Timi Dakolo was a undergraduate student of Communication Studies in the University of Port Harcourt.

Right after coming tops of Idol West Africa in the year 2007, on January 1, 2008, on New Year's Day, Timi Dakolo was gunned down at the lobby of the Presidential Hotel in Port Harcourt. He had been at the logde to grace a church service in the gathering of his acquintances.
